I don't know if you know, but there's the option of taking the Auto Train (http://www.amtrak.com/auto-train) in one direction: you put the car on the train and ride overnight in a sleeper car. It's not cheap, but you avoid a lot of driving and there's a romance to sleeping on the train, right?

We haven't done it, but my husband is always talking about it.
