I've used it for a couple of years. I haven't switched to a chip reader because I sold my business, but I've used them and they seem fine. It was very convenient because it logged the location of the transaction and allowed you to split lines, my only complaint is that it didn't work so well with my accounting software, but I had no choice in that. I've heard a complaint from others that it's impossible to do a partial refund, but I've never had to.
