you can plug a surge adapter with all your computer equipment - printer/speakers/etc. that's what i'm doing with my us stuff in the uk. most computers and monitors have dual power supplies so you don't need an converter for them.
word of caution - if you have a laser printer be extra careful, they are extremely heavy on sudden surges of electricity. i burnt one printer already. i wouldn't even bring a printer over, they are cheaper to buy new
