New Year in NYC

Is it great to spend new year's eve in nyc? Have you tried? Where have you been, what could you advice? We are completely lost about the options (me and two friends). Mainly we consider night clubs like Avallon, Arcspace, Centro fly, but they are expected to be disappointing. So, if you know some relatively small and cozy place, please, share your experience. We are looking for good music, affordable drinks, interesting people. What are you going to do on the new year by the way?

i spent 2000 new year's eve on the roof of wtc. actually, that was the reason why i came to america, and it was worth it.
i know some cozy places in soho, but i could only get in there because of my friends. it's going to be hard if you don't know anybody.
i'd love to fly there this time but i got some problems to take care of so i might just stay in hollywood or santa barbara.

yeah.. it seems we will be experiencing some pushing in regular clubs.. Is it true they always overbook?

it's gonna be hard to get in regular clubs too. i'd buy tickets right now. there might be some lj users who don't mind to get together in nyc. my younger sister and some of my friends are going there too.
where are you planning to stay ?

At my friend's (jedermann) 'residence' in Princeton univ. We are also going to meed madeinmoscow. I am not sure how else can I find people going to hang out in NYC at that time... will try something with lj. Yeah, we are about to buy some tickets! Thanks for info!
