So, ladies and gentlemen, here are your tax dollars at work:

The Department of Education has announced it would make sex education mandatory in middle and high schools. It is just one part of the mayor's new initiative to help young blacks and Hispanics.

But now, some are coming out saying they don't like the curriculum and want it changed before the sex ed classes start in January. They gathered on the steps of city hall Tuesday. They want the city to hear their message. Some were concerned with the idea of sex ed in schools in general, while others questioned what the schools will teach.

Dr. Miriam Grossman prepared a report on the doe sex ed curriculum. She said the message about abstinence is virtually non-existent. But, just after meeting with a new group of freshman, Chancellor Dennis Walcott disagreed. Walcott said abstinence is part of the class, along with lessons for the many students who do have sex. He said a third of cases of sexually transmitted diseases in the city are teenagers and the schools should do their part to keep kids safe.

"That is an alarming figure, so we believe that those students should abstain, but those who don't we have a responsibility to make sure they learn the consequences of their behavior, having safe practices and how to navigate the difficult choices of being a middle and high school students," Walcott said.

He said parents can opt out of the birth control and condom section. He also said the doe will meet with religious leaders to make sure abstinence is addressed. He also said teachers will go through training before the classes start. Although some of these folks admitted that there are some irreconcilable differences on this sensitive issue, their message is clear: parents and teachers should focus on abstinence. "We believe we do our young people a disserve when we teach them how to reduce their risk," said Greg Pfundstein of Chiaroscuro Foundation. "And when we should be teaching them how to avoid it."

А может кто-нибудь сталкивался с тем, как в Штаты холодное оружие ввозится? Надо ввезти военно-морской кортик...
Куда бежать, чего гуглить?... А может уже и ссылки какие есть на примете или личный опыт?
